The best way to describe the fall Trend House predictions is postmodern sophistication meets '80's retro/punk and '50's elegance while keeping in mind the necessity of warmth and comfort. This is good news especially with the Farmers Almanac predicting the coldest winter in years.

According to the findings of Trend House, a design trend forecaster and lifestyle forecasting firm, we can look forward to seeing more classy/elegant yet coach/sporty styles. Their looks in all areas focus primarily on sharp lines and combinations of color and fabric type. In this year’s show, Trend House presented four key trends –– Scenario, Perception, Vertigo and Coaching.

Scenario, as described by Trend House, is "a sensual story of seduction and refined luxury." The inspiration for this line is single’s culture. This trend combines old-fashioned understated glamour and sensibility. Colors include amber, shimmering red, deep burgundy, bronze, and coffee. The Materials used create the look using terry cloth, gabardine and stretch velvet. The jackets are long and fitted and the pants have flat fronts and are thinning. This look, though elegant, is best suited for long, slender body types. But do not despair if you are one with curves –– perception and coaching are what you are looking for.

Perceptions, which credits early computers and retro-tech quirky prints and patterns for the inspiration of these styles really illustrates how a good print or fabric combination can make a look fabulous. This allows each combination of fabric to define the human body focusing on the waist and hip area in the women's line and the shoulder and thigh area in men's wear. Vertigo, Perceptions counter part in junior boys and girls, uses fabric color combinations to create an explosion of energy and excitement with a nod to 1980's music videos.

Coaching, the last of the four trends, demonstrates how old, chill-out wear is now club and city life worthy. Inspired by the increasing popularity of coaches and personal trainers in all aspects of life, it uses old, only for play fabrics, and turns them into something more, something so, “Yeah Baby cool!” that it turns you on.

All in all the Trend House lines are inspiring. If this is the future of fall fashion, you can expect to look fabulous regardless of age or body type. Start saving your money because the future shopping season looks like an A.
